Gallery Walk

  • Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas United States (map)

Hot Springs National Park’s monthly Gallery Walk is an experience for locals and visitors alike. Held on the first Friday of each month from 5 PM to 9 PM, multiple galleries open to welcome you, share their current exhibits, host artists, and showcase a variety of art types. This iconic staple represents the Hot Springs arts and culture scene.

For October 2nd Gallery Walk, here is what we know so far, along with map links to help get you there:

Artists' Workshop Gallery | October's Featured Artists are Susan Drost and Maureen Rousseau. A resident of Royal, Drost is an abstract artist working in acrylic and mixed media, using fluid forms and dynamic surfaces to create expressive, meditative spaces that often reference the rhythms of nature. Rousseau, who has a background in graphic design, works in watercolor, oil, and oil pastel, painting subjects from nature and treasured pets. October's Featured Miniature artists are Georgia Chastain and Jennifer Wheeler-Peterson. Charlie Mink plays dulcimer all evening. 610A Central Avenue.

Justus Fine Art Gallery | "Natural Order" opens with nature-based work by a variety of artists, including Mark Blaney's paintings that track the flight of crows and sculpture by Michael Warrick, alongside work by Michael Ashley, Adrian Deckbar, Matthew Hasty, Robyn Horn, Deborah Kuster, Dennis McCann, Dolores Justus Reuther, Steven Schneider, Gene Sparling, Sandra Sell, and Peter Sixbey. The exhibit runs October 2 through 31, with an opening reception during Gallery Walk. 827 A Central Avenue.

American Art Gallery and Gifts LLC | Two floors and more than 4,000 square feet of exhibit space showcase local, regional, and national artists. 724 Central Avenue.

Collective Arts Gallery | An exhibit of birds from Hot Springs and around the world arrives with the first Birding Festival of the South, with hundreds of bird-themed pieces from the gallery's 55 local member artists available throughout October. The exhibit continues Thursday through Sunday all month. 620 Central Avenue, 2nd Floor.

Static on Ouachita | Featured artist Kristie York will be on hand during Gallery Walk. Her work sets the dark and the strange beside the beautiful, exploring introspection, transcendence, and absurdity through recurring snakes, skulls, ladders, and self-portraits. 246 Ouachita Avenue.

Ouachita Wax and Naturals | Choctaw artist Connie D. Phillips guides a buffalo acrylic painting class from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on a 20-by-12-inch canvas, with all supplies included. No experience is necessary. The class is $60 per person and includes complimentary drinks and snacks. Reservations and payment are required; space is limited: call or text 469-925-6999 or email info@ouachitawaxandnaturals.com. 118 B Central Avenue.

Dryden Pottery | New work fills the gallery this month: flora-inspired watercolor paintings by Sonja Crawford Parnell alongside a new limited-edition series designed by Longhua Xu and cast and glazed in collaboration with Zack Dryden, part of the pottery's 80th anniversary collaboration. Parnell also leads a live watercolor workshop, "Mum's the Word," from 5:30 to 9 p.m., capturing fall's favorite flower. Appropriate for all skill levels. The workshop costs $75 per person and includes supplies and a take-home kit. Register through Dryden Pottery's online form or contact Sonja Parnell at (501) 617-4630. 341 Whittington Avenue.

Black Ribbon Books | Bound Creations by Milissa Credeur hosts a Potion Party pop-up from 5 to 7 p.m. Guests set an intention, choose their colors, and build a one-of-a-kind potion bottle in about 10 to 15 minutes. Potions are $13.33 to $16.66, with add-ons available. Family-friendly, all ages welcome. Payment by cash, Venmo, or CashApp. 239 Central Avenue.

Blue Donut Art Gallery | Contemporary and nationally exhibited artists in a large gallery space across from the skatepark. 430 Valley Street.

Also at Gallery Walk, not galleries, but part of the evening:

Dr. Wade's Parking Spot Pop-Up | Hot Springs Bicycle Touring Company and Rosemary Wootton present a one-night pop-up with local art, live music, and community. Featured artists are Rosemary Theobalt Wootton, Gail Wisdom, Beth Pope, Donna Lawrence, and Valeria Di Ponio. 231 Central Avenue, Suite B.
